Prof. Cornelis (Kees) Weemstra
Department of Geoscience & Engineering, Delft University of Technology

Cornelis (Kees) Weemstra is assistant professor in the Department of Geoscience & Engineering at Delft University of Technology. He received a M.Sc. in geophysics from Utrecht University, and specialised in seismology while obtaining his Ph.D. degree at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland. He works in close collaboration with the Seismology & Acoustics Department at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). His research interests include seismic interferometry, (probabilistic) inverse theory, surface-wave imaging & monitoring, and multiple scattering. He consistently strives to reconcile theory and practice (i.e., application to field data), with a focus on methodological advancement. Recently, he has focused on the (source) characterisation of induced seismicity.
