Dr Steven Bloemen

Steven Bloemen serves as Deputy Director of the astrophysics department’s instrumentation lab at Radboud University. As project manager and instrument scientist, he has coordinated the design and implementation of optics, mechanics, electronics, data processing software, and control software for the BlackGEM and MeerLICHT wide-field optical telescopes. He also chaired the Tiger Team for the WEAVE spectrograph, installed at the William Herschel Telescope, and currently leads the consortium building the FOTOS-OPS systems for space domain awareness. Steven is a member of the Instrument Steering Committee of NOVA (the Netherlands Research School for Astronomy). He is committed to public outreach and cares about sustainability of astrophysical research and facilities.
