Prof. Gavin Dalton

Gavin is a Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Oxford, and holds a Senior Merit Fellowship at RALSpace. His early research on the use of galaxy clusters as tracers of large-scale cosmological structure led to a close involvement in the Anglo-Australian Telescope 2 Degree Field redshift survey and the development of complex algorithms for multi-object spectrograph configuration. This in turn led to a career in the development of facility instrumentation including leadership of projects for Subaru (FMOS), VISTA, the WHT (WEAVE) and ESO’s extremely large telescope.
