Royal Astronomical Society

The Royal Astronomical Society invites you to present an astronomy topic of your choice as an academic style poster. Winners will receive book token prizes of 1st = £100, 2nd = £50, 3rd = £25.

Some example topics are given in the guidelines but you are free to choose your own.

All entries will be displayed on our website, and judges selected by the RAS Education and Outreach Committee will pick the three winners.

Eligibility:

You must currently be studying GCSE Astronomy.

Criteria:

  • Your poster must cover an astronomy topic.
  • Posters will be judged on their scientific content, how they look, and how interesting they are.
  • The poster must be: 
    ∙ Portrait or landscape
    ∙ Set up for A0 sized paper
    ∙ Electronic 
    ∙ Created in PowerPoint or similar 
  • You must include your name, your school address (if applicable) and your GCSE Astronomy teacher's details (name and email address) in your entry. This is so we can check that you are eligible to enter the competition.

Deadline:

All posters must be emailed to Nush Cole at awards@ras.ac.uk by Tuesday February 14, 2023 (23.59). The winners will be announced at the RAS Ordinary Meeting on Friday, March 10, at 4 pm.
